BasicNeeds and Partners Hold Review Meeting

BasicNeeds-Ghana and its implementation partners held a Programmes’ Implementation Review and Planning Meeting in Tamale from February 21st to 23rd. The meeting which took place at the International Conference Centre of the Univerisity for Development Studies, was meant to take stock of programme implementation of the 2017 project year and plan for 2018.

Implementation partners in attendance were the Mental Health Society of Ghana (MEHSOG), Gub-Katimali Society (GKS), Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP), Centre for People’s Empowerment and Rights Initiatives (CPRI) and Mission of Hope for Society (MIHOSO) International

Peter Badimak Yaro, Executive Director of BasicNeeds-Ghana, in his welcome address, thanked the representatives of the organisations in attendance.  He acknowledged that despite their busy schedules and the distance involved, they had still managed to make the time to be present. This, in his view, was a testament to the importance of such review meetings in the success of project implementation.

Each partner had the opportunity to present their work in the past year. Opportunity was given for clarifications. Generally, partners’ reports indicated that project targets had been met with some degree of challenge. These challenges had, however, proven to be occasions of learning for the organisations involved.

This year’s review was also special for another important reason. A consultant with vast experience in development work, Mr Shamwill Issah, was engaged to train participating organisations in project proposal writing. The training was auspicious given that the BasicNeeds-Ghana was in the final quarter of its five (5) year project funded by UK aid. Participants gave very positive feedback on the training notwithstanding the short duration (2 days) it took.
