Johnson and Johnson Director Visits SHG

Ian B.L. walker, Corporate Citizenship Director of Johnson and Johnson Company Ltd., took some time off to visit BasicNeeds-Ghana and inspect some activities of the organisation when he visited Ghana on January 31, 2017. Johnson and Johnson Company Ltd is an American multinational company which has become a household brand in the manufacture of medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer items. The company recently funded a livelihoods enhancement project titled “BasicNeeds promoting gardening for improved mental health, food and income security”

Ian Walker, in the company of Yaro Badimak Peter, Executive Director of BasicNeeds-Ghana, interacted with members of the Kweboniehi (literally “look how Goods it its”) SHG in Nungua in the Greater Accra Region. He observed the self-help group at meeting. Mr. Walker noted his satisfaction at seeing the positive impact  his company’s contribution was making in the lives of vulnerable people with mental illness or epilepsy. He commended BasicNeeds on great difference the organisation was making in the communities where it worked through a simple model of operation.

The team also visited two stabilized individuals who were supported by BasicNeeds-Ghana to engage in livelihoods activities in the Ayawaso Submetro.
